Choosing Antivirus Software

First of all, there are many of my friends asking me which antivirus (AV) did I use? And I've been using this AV for almost 2 years now, replacing my old favourite useless norton av. NOD32 by ESET I regard as the best antivirus so far. You can check it out HERE.

When i'm searching for antivirus that would be best for me, my criteria as its not heavy on system, fast scanning, use less memory when working and protects my laptop efficiently. Norton at the moment lost all of above. So, I highly advise those who are searching for new av to ignore norton.

My choice will be (from 1st to 3rd) -

NOD32
Kaspersky AV
Avast AV

NOD32

Offers light system requirement. It also doesn't use too many system resources (RAM) when working compared to several other av i've tried. If u are heavy gamers who don't like to be disturbed when gaming, want quite protection, less resource spend on your av...then this was ultimate solution. Have very simple interface though. But using this av might be a problem to a newbie to the av. For this av works on top notch there are settings that needs to be configured depends on how you want it to work. Thats what i like about it. Not very user friendly with the interface, yet provide best protection

With advance heuristics feature in this av, it can detect viruses and worms event though its not yet in the database. It works by detecting the common script of the virus program. So, its less worrying when you are unable to update to the latest virus definition for your av.

NOD32 however unlike other av which provide firewall together with their program, doesn't provide any. But it does have internet real-time scanning feature so that you are protected when surfing online around the net. Like, sometimes people plant their virus in one of the webpage and downloaded without you knowing anything but with NOD32 it is now more reliable to protect from these kind of attacks.

Sites such as cracks and porns often have viruses. So just be carefull with those. To backup the lack of network protection, i used external firewall (DO NOT RELY ON WINDOW FIREWALL...COMPLETELY USELESS!!). Microsoft should just focus on getting better OS rather than creating safety features because its basically useless. Even vista is too heavy...with fast computer one needs to make it slower? thus creating heavy graphics OS? thats stoopid. XP is much better in terms of that...even though it also consume large resources.

Back to firewall, you can just search any firewall available on the net since most are quite the same. Using firewall, one also need to have basic knowledge in knowing the name of software they used. Because it will ask (for first time) whether the software trying to connect to the network launched legally or not by you or automatic system approach.

At the moment i used Sygate Personal Firewall. It works brilliantly at the moment...blocking access from out there. At my place, in the network has a lot of viruses and those with less protection will probably face problem with it.

So thats all i can help if there are any out there asking about av. I cannot review on other av since i'm not using it fully (just for a moment to test) but with my ranking of my favourite av, that should helps.

My tips on searching new av is you need to be a bit research on the net, read the forums, reviews, and rating or award of the av gets. Maybe also research done by pro webs about rating av around the net.

Thats all...

bye
